Yes I can

No, I’m not reiterating a recent political slogan.

This post is much more self-centered than that; it is about my ability to wear berets.

Bousta Beret

I test knit this lovely pattern for Gudrun. This pattern can be worn more beret style or slouchy hat style depending on your own style. I’m thinking that I can actually be a slouchy hat gal. Yes, I can.

Pattern: Bousta Beret by Gudrun Johnson (queue it on ravelry here)
Yarn: Sublime angora/merino in husk
Needles: Addi US 4 and 6

The pattern is clearly written and I learned the German twisted cast-on from it. The yarn was the only thing that gave me a small problem. It is super soft and non shedding, so I would use it again. However, each ball I used had a knot a little over a yard in….which is really a bit ridiculous. I would never notice if the ball was a yard short, but I do notice knots.

If only it would stop raining so much here; I could wear it more.

I remain completely unconvinced of my own inability to wear a beret, but if I were going to try, it would be with that one. So pretty.

The beret is absolutely gorgeous. That’s really weird about the knot a yard into each ball!

Ooh, it looks fabulous. I’ve been eyeing that yarn for ages. It’s nice to work with and wear, other than the knot issue?

That’s a very romantic, very feminine pattern. I especially like the subtle plum color you chose.
