FO: Little Child’s Sock
March 27th, 2007 at 10:19 am (Progress Posts)
Pattern: Little Child’s Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks
Yarn: Lisa Souza Sock in Blue Sky
Needles: Bamboo dpns US1
Started: Mar 20
Finished: Mar 24
This was my fastest pair of socks ever. It never even made it onto my WIP list in the sidebar. After getting a little bogged down in my Pomatomus, I needed to get some sock love back. The texture on these is so much fun. I was surprised by how into this knit I got, especially since I originally did not care much for the color of the yarn (it was originally for a gift) or the pattern. However, when flipping through the book, I thought they would go well together. Then I saw these and I fell completely in love with the pattern and cast on right away.
a seam up the back (yup my calves are shaped a little funny/slanty, so the seam may seem a little off)
a little square heel
One funny looking, misshapen sock when not on a foot.
And a new little tool to measure my leftovers: 26g left, that’s some nice yardage for one skein.

26 g is the perfect amount for a pair of these Stay-On baby booties to which I’ve become somewhat addicted! It’s a two-fer!

Oooh, nice! Yeah, Mustaa Villaa got me thinking about those socks. Now yours have convinced me. First though, I must try these: http://mustaavillaa.blogspot.com/2007/03/flir-na-h-alba.html
Congratulations on being included in the latest Yarnival. I didn’t even see it until yesterday.

Fabulous! What a beautiful color.
What kind of scale did you get? I’ve been trying to decide on one myself…

Excellent, excellent socks! They look so funny in the book that I didn’t even stop to think or consider. I will have to make them! Soon.

I love the varieted view of the sole. That yarn looks so beautiful.
It’s funny how socks always manage to look to pathetic when they’re not being worn. But put them on and presto! :)

Love the socks. They came out great.
The scale is a great tool! I added one to my set of tools last year.

Great socks! And you know, my calves are shaped a little funny too, they kind of bow out. I think it’s “charming….” I hope you sock knitting mojo is back full steam now!

I really like these socks. You did a great job. I love how they’re not crazy lacey socks. They’re a nice simple sock that you look like you could actually wear comfortably. Congrats!

I love the stripes of different texture in those socks – and I covet your scale, I want one of those for my kitchen!

These socks are absolutely gorgeous! I’m definitely making this my first pair of NB socks-just have to find a skein of sock yarn with enough yardage.

Sweet socks – I love the texture! I received a digital scale for christmas 2 yrs ago, and I use it constantly (mostly to weigh yarn)

those came out great – another case of crappy display in the book, but when you see them in a photo on line, you have to knit them! I think too many of the Nancy Bush patterns succumbed to poor photography and styling in the books….

These are so great. I hadn’t really considered them in the book, but now that I see yours….
I love how NB is always mixing things up at the heel and the toe.

[...] I tried to tell myself that I shouldn’t start any new projects until I finished it because everytime I started a new project I concentrated on it instead of this Blazer (It’s all your fault, Sunrise Circle, Little Child’s Sock and Ms Marigold. I’m looking at you.) I allowed myself the Baby Bolero, but then I tried to cut myself off of new projects. This didn’t really work, as I chose to avoid knitting instead. [...]
