Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with string….
(If you want I can also put on a production of Annie with a little help from my sisters. We used to make my mom sit through the entire production, and we did the entire movie.)
Gifts from P-funk: Knitting Vintage Socks (I can now stop putting constant holds on it at the library.), Regina Spektor (pure awesomeness, click on the link to sample some music), and the Nikki McClure calendar (He fooled me on this one, saying that the copy we had bought as a gift was the last one the store had so we might not be able to get it for ourselves. He’s a little liar). Not pictured: a Dirty Martini cd, a Portland ensemble. The cds are really presents for both of us, as he bought ones that we would both like.
From the in-laws: A Gift Certificate to Blue Moon Fiber arts. With this and some other present money I received, I can join the Socks that Rock club. So excited!
From my parents: A yarn swift…so much fun. (A ball winder from my Grandma is on order)
From a sis and BiL: the Knit Kit seen in the pic. And actually, if you look closely at the mantel you can see a candle that is from my other sis and BiL.
The yarn that I am winding in the picture is the Knitpicks Gloss in Pumpkin from my secret pal mentioned in the previous post. I’ll wait until after I post about the gifts that I made to show what I plan to make with it.
If you want a preview of the gifts that I made, you can check out the Finished 2006 page in the sidebar. I’ll be posting about each item in the next week or two.
*I focused knitting related presents, since this is a knitting blog, but I love my other gifts too. It was fun to see the thought that everyone put into their gifts. Also, I do have to mention to one possible reader that the homemade grape jelly is definitely worth picking the seeds out of.

My secret pal once again shows her awesomeness. Although I have to say that this time it was a bit freaky….the yarn that she sent me is the exact yarn and colorways that I have in my Knitpicks “save for later” list online. I also got a fun book and a container for my yarn so it doesn’t get tangled as I knit. The book will be great as I am starting to read more psychology books again, so my brain will definitely need fun reading time.
Everything was wrapped in pretty Christmas paper, but I was too eager to open it to take a before picture. There were also yummy mint and candy cane Hershey kisses included.
I am back and I have much to post about…so stay tuned. Tommorrow I will show other fun loot that I got. Then I have many pics of Christmas gifts that I made. I finished them all (well all but half of one) the week before Christmas, so I haven’t shown any of them yet.

The copyright to the above song lyrics belong to my niece.
After watching me knit a hat for her, she picked up my knitting and tried it herself. I have to say that for a 2year old it was rather impressive. She originally just started wrapping yarn around the whole thing and smiling, but she realized that wasn’t quite right and started wrapping the yarn around the needles.
I grabbed her some spare yarn and needles and that is when the song started as she pulled apart the ball of yarn and stabbed it vigorously with the needles.
She is already an addict. When she was asked to put away the yarn so she could go home, she cluctched the yarn to her chest and insisited “No, I ‘itting. I ‘itting” and screamed briefly when I put the yarn away.
In other news, the cute two year old mispronunciations can sometimes be a bit ironic. She cannot pronounce my name and so I am now officially her aunt “Tittie.” Considering, just about every woman on earth (and many men) have larger boobies that me, it is a bit funny.

This is P-funk, taking over the blog while the wife is away. The cat decided to knock over this box of yarn to take a nap. She’s currently on top of the Cascade Eco Wool felted slippers that are being knit for me for Christmas.

I’ll be MIA for most of the next couple weeks…with only spotty access to internet connections, but here is a pretty pic to hold you over:
