Whoever made up the stupid turn of phrase “Don’t cry over spilled milk” never stood in their kitchen watching a flood of milk while trying to figure out how the hell to clean up the mess, after dropping a half-gallon glass bottle full of milk that narrowly missed her foot and exploded all over the kitchen. I’m just saying.

Here is my 3rd footless sock (mentioned yesterday) all ready to go to sock knitting class tonight:
I received a Knitpicks shipment today:
Only the brown sock yarn is for me. That is rare as I am usually a pretty selfish knitter and about 95% of what I knit is for myself. The yellow yarn on the left is Merino Style in Crocus for arm warmers for P-funk for his bike commute to work this winter. I’m designing some with a thumb loop that will fit over his bike gloves and possibly with a cable design up the outside. The tan yarn in the middle is Gloss in Serengeti for a mock cable cardigan for my niece’s birthday in November. It is much darker than the picture on Knitpicks, but oh well. I normally find that Knitpicks cotton yarns are brighter in person, but I guess the Gloss yarns are darker. On the right is Essential Tweed sock yarn in Flint for P-funk and Inca Gold for me. You know…because I always have loved plundering gold from indigenous peoples.
I also bought a new knitting tool:
“What is that?” you ask. Well, it is “The Original Book Magic” and the books that I am reading for Knit the Classics.
It uses 100% real magic to keep my book open so that I can read and knit at the same time. It doesn’t use any of that there fake magic.
I used it yesterday as I knit on my Sunrise Circle Jacket. It is quite exciting for me as I have forsaken my other loves (reading and painting) for knitting in recent months. I still haven’t figured out how to knit and paint at the same time.

I’m too tired to download my pictures of knitting right now. My hand is better so I have been knitting more footless socks (with the Mountain Colors yarn….which is amazing!) and working on the Sunrise Circle Jacket again.
In lieu of knitting pics, you all have to go see this awesome video….need a reason: Dancing on Treadmills, that’s your reason

I have my second sock all caught up to the first.
So at this point, I have two socks with flaps that are completely ineffective at…well at covering my feet. We turn the heel in the next class, so I’m getting there. With all the yarn ends hanging off everywhere, I do kind of feel like someone should come along and make me do a little dance by pulling on the strings.
I chose to go with the romantic low lit picture b/c no one really wants to see what my toenails look like with the flash.
While posting, I’m listening to Lime n Violet’s newest podcast. I have to say that P-funk is a bit in lust with the podcast also. When I give him a choice of what podcast I’m going to play, he always says “the crazy ladies, the crazy ladies” and has starting to change anything that sounds somewhat like wrangle into “wrangle, wrangle, wrangle.” For example, Sun ringle ringle ringle

What I think is tendonitis in my right hand is getting better, but I’m still trying to avoid knitting right now so that I don’t make it worse again. I did work on the heel flap for my sock last night at my sock knitting class.
Since I have already moved into the acceptance phase of my new addiction, I also purchased new sock yarn. I had planned to only buy one skein with a gift card that I had received for my birthday. However, the cunning yarn shop had just received a shipment of Schaeffer yarns that were spread out on the front counter with a small crowd gathered around. I couldn’t resist, especially when there were only two skeins of Kermie and I knew that they would be gone within a day by the way that crowd was ogling them. In addition, a sock knitting classmate pointed out that I should get myself a present in honor of my first day at a new job today. So here is what I walked out of the store with:

On the left is Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Rosehip, and on the right is Shaeffer Yarns Anne Collection in Kermie.
I had looked at the Schaeffer yarns online, but had never seen them in person before. The colors are so richly saturated and the colorways are so harmonious. Looking at them online is nothing close to what they actually look like.
In other news, this picture always cracks me up:
You just know that the photographer for this art design just had to have a great sense of humor because there is no way to be serious about this picture.
If you can’t tell, those are dish gloves. I have to say that the cuff is effective at keeping water from dripping down your arms, but it is not exactly a fashion statement.
